About

Provide a singular space that could house all types of music classes, if space is restricted. Dedicated storage for large school-owned equipment such as tympani, xylophones, and choral risers should be discussed to allow greatest flexibility within limited space. Consider deep sinks for instrument cleaning, large spatial volume, and separated acoustic protection.

Adjustable Acoustics

It is possible to provide a singular multi-use space with adjustable acoustics (such as curtains or adjustable baffles). Rooms should be highly acoustically rated to prevent disruption to exterior learning spaces.

Instrument Lockers

Instrument lockers shall be provided and ideally accessed without having to enter the classroom.

High-Volume Spaces

High-volume spaces work best for music rooms, and acoustic engineers will need to determine how best to outfit the rooms with items like adjustable wall acoustics, angled walls, and ceilings for each scenario.

Recording Capabilities

Consider recording capabilities for large group, small group, and individual music performers. Recording capabilities can be introduced at the middle school and high schools.
